A. Proceeds from this year's Lottery will help support cancer care in our region. Every year, thousands of people will be diagnosed with cancer in our region; more than 75 per cent of them will require some form of surgical procedure at The Ottawa Hospital. When you buy an Ottawa Hospital Lottery ticket, you are directly supporting innovative diagnostic practices and treatments that will benefit the people in our region when they need it most. Q. Does the money raised from The Ottawa Hospital Lottery go to pay for day-to-day hospital operations such as doctors' salaries?
A. The large majority of Lottery proceeds go toward patient care and equipment at The Ottawa Hospital. Proceeds also support lifesaving research projects which, in rare exceptions, include the hiring of research fellows.

A. With its 1,130 beds, The Ottawa Hospital is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Canada. It provides comprehensive, high-quality, patient-focused health care services, in English and French, to over 1.5 million residents of Eastern Ontario, and specialized and complex services for residents of Northeastern Ontario. The Ottawa Hospital has three campuses: Civic, General and Riverside. The Ottawa Health Research Institute, the research arm of the hospital is located on two sites: the General and the Civic. A. The Ottawa Hospital Foundation runs The Ottawa Hospital Lottery. The Foundation exists to inspire and enable the community to support exceptional patient care at The Ottawa Hospital and lifesaving research at the Ottawa Health Research Institute. The Foundation is
in the midst of its five-year, $100-million Legacy Campaign to raise funds for much-needed construction and improvements of facilities, and to purchase new equipment at the Hospital. The government will provide $1.60 for every dollar raised in the community through methods such as The Ottawa Hospital Lottery.
